Following the crowd isn’t always the best option and this is clearly apparent when it comes to IT systems, especially the software your organisation uses. In terms of operating systems, the software which closely works with your IT hardware, Linux is simply, hands-down, better than Windows or Mac OS.
 
Yet you may say, “what is Linux?”, “Never heard of it!”, “Isn’t that just for coders?” – all false. And, indeed, globally less that than 10% of end-users run their computers on Linux. You may then ask, “Why?”. The answers is, advertising really does work – that is why billions of dollars are spent on it. Unlike Windows or Mac OS, Linux is open source and completely free. As it’s not backed by a large corporation, only the tech savvy are “in the know”.
 
However, organisations such as Valencia Regional Government, The French Police and the German state Schleswig-Holstein, have all realised they can make significant savings by using the very secure and energy efficient Linux. Indeed, even the mission critical International Space Station runs on it.
 
Windows 11 will render millions of computers obsolete, ready for the scrap heap. As an organisation isn’t it time you moved to open source Linux?
